One Young World Switzerland is the Swiss chapter of the global community that brings together young leaders from around the world to drive social impact. We are seeking an entrepreneurial, mission-driven Managing Director to lead our organization’s strategy and operations as we empower young leaders across Switzerland.

After 3 successful years since the founding of One Young World Switzerland, we’re looking for a new Managing Director. This role is a 40-60% role, and could be hired as a ’secondment‘ role from another organization, or applied for directly. We’re looking for a passionate, Young Leader with strategic thinking that’s looking to jump in to a new and exciting challenge!

Job Overview:

We are seeking an entrepreneurial, mission-driven Managing Director to lead our organization’s strategy, operations, partnerships, and volunteer team as we empower young leaders across Switzerland and engage with the One Young World Global Summit. You will be accountable for the operations of the organization, defining the future strategy, and program impact—translating vision into executable plans, building high-impact partnerships, and ensuring efficient and sustainable operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategy Leadership:
    • Define and execute a multi-year strategy aligned with our mission and impact goals.
    • Translate strategy into annual operating plans, budgets, and measurable KPIs.
  • Organizational Management:
    • Oversee day-to-day operations, financial stewardship, compliance, risk management, and governance reporting to the Board.
    • Build, manage, and mentor a high-performing volunteer team.
    • Implement scalable processes for CRM, project management, and knowledge capture.
  • Partnerships and stakeholder engagement:
    • Cultivate strategic partnerships with corporates, foundations, universities, government, and community leaders.
    • Represent the organization as primary spokesperson at events, with media, and within the One Young World community.
    • Drive revenue diversification through fundraising, sponsorships, and fee-for-service offerings.
  • Communication:
    • Manage the organization’s external narrative and brand positioning across channels (media, social, newsletters, thought leadership) – in alignment with the global team.
  • Program and Event Management:
    • Project Manage and execute the yearly National Congress, as well as other events.
    • Maximize engagement and outcomes related to the One Young World Global Summit and related initiatives.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Passion for youth leadership and social impact.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Strong strategic thinking and stakeholder management.
  • Experience in working with senior stakeholders, engaging with corporate organizations and event management.
  • Strong English communication skills; French or German is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks efficiently.
  • High attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Integrity and discretion in handling confidential and sensitive information.
